Gateway to the Pines
MINNESOTA
Menahga, MN was incorporated in 1892 and around 200 settlers resided here. Early census indicates most were of
Scandinavian descent with the largest being from Finland. Lumber production played a big part in the growth of the
area and the coming of the railroad in 1891 made way for a  host of new business. Records indicate the fire
department was quite busy, and in 1916 the Jefferson highway (now hwy 71), a continuous road from the Gulf of
Mexico to Canada was celebrated here with the governor of Louisiana attending.
